A Novel Model-Based Predictive Direct Power Control of Doubly-Fed Induction Generator

Abstract—This paper proposes a novel model-based predictive controller for direct power control of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). In this paper, a control law based-on the state-space model is described to compensate and regulate the differences between the output active and reactive power of stator of DFIG that is in interaction with the network. The instantaneous errors of active and reactive power of DFIG is eliminated with the consideration of the fact that no extra current control loop is needed and also no synchronous transformation is being held. Moreover, constant switching frequency is achieved and the transient response of the controller system is improved. Simulation results on a 2 MWDFIG are provided using Matlab/Simulink to prove these claims.
